Summit Steel is looking for someone to join our growing steel fabrication company, and work as an Estimator. We are looking for talented hardworking professionals who like meeting new challenges and enjoy the variety of doing different projects to showcase their skills while working on a schedule. A background in structural steel, metal fabrication, construction, architecture, or manufacturing would be ideal. Standard hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00am – 4:30pm and Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm. Some projects and deadlines may require periodic overtime.

Experience:

• Blueprint Reading: 3 years (Required)

• Basic knowledge of Office Programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook (Required)

• Basic knowledge of Bluebeam Software (Preferred)

• Estimating: 1-2 years (Preferred)

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Analyze blueprints, specifications and other related documents to prepare cost, material, and labor estimates

• Monitor purchasing and shop performance for existing jobs. Assist the company in job costing reporting to improve both estimating and production accuracy and efficiency.

• Monitors on-going bid performance with General Contractors as well as monitor shop performance for awarded jobs.

• Answer questions from customers regarding quotes and sales.

• Solicit pricing from material vendors

• Prepare formal quotes and scope list

• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Candidates should be able to clearly articulate bid inclusions, exclusions, and proposal clarifications with owners and subcontractors
